Project Ocean Treasurer

David E. Knisley

My very first SCUBA dive off the coast of Aruba in 1991 was all it took to awaken my love for the ocean and all of the animals that make it their home.  After obtaining my open water diver certification in 1993 and my SCUBA Instructor certification in 1997, I worked for several years to attain the level of PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and SDI SCUBA instructor.  Today I am a lifeguard and SCUBA instructor at Aquatic Adventures Ohio, the region’s premier aquatics and dive center.

Although I love SCUBA diving in the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Mexico and the Florida Keys as often as possible, there is nothing more fun and relaxing than certifying new divers of any age at our local dive sites in Central Ohio.  Instructing SCUBA has been my way of introducing others to my ocean and thereby recruit their help to protect it.

Following years of experience working as a chief financial officer in the public sector, I was pleased to accept the invitation to be the treasurer of the Project Ocean board of trustees.  Working with Project Ocean has been a natural fit for me to expose even more people, particularly our youth, to oceans, coral, education, aquatic life and nesting grounds.  I hope you can help.
