Recent news from the University of Florida states that in 2011 unprovoked shark attacks in the US were down with a total number of 29 attacks. The really good news about these 29 attacks is that none of them were fatal even with the US having the highest number of overall attacks. Within the US, Florida had the highest number of attacks at 11. As the article states, “It’s a good news/ bad news situation”. Could the downturn in the economy mean that tourists are visiting US waters causing the number of attack to lower?
